Start saving now! Our annual Clothing & Household Textiles Recycling Drive is Saturday, Nov. 21 from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Look for the Helpsy truck in Riley Plaza.

WHY? — Because textiles aren’t trash, nor can they be placed in curbside recycling bins where they act as “tanglers.” Discarded textiles can be reused, cut up into rags, or ground up into new products.

DROP OFF — clean & dry clothing, sneakers, shoes, boots, slippers, belts, ties, purses, stuffed animals, comforters, sheets, blankets, table linens, and curtains.

ANY CONDITION — as long as clean and dry. Can be new and reusable, old and moth-eaten, torn, stained or damaged, broken belt, single sock or shoe. Damaged textiles are made into rags or recycled into new products!

*NEW THIS YEAR* We have partnered with TerraCycle and will have a special collection for Razors and Swiffers to be recycled!
You may know TerraCycle as the “social enterprise Eliminating the Idea of Waste®.” They offer recycling solutions for hard-to-recycle waste streams.
During our annual Textile Recycling Drive, you may also drop off used, dry Swiffer pads, and ALL brands of razors and their packaging. See attached flyers for details of both collections. If enough is collected, this generates a small donation to Salem schools.
Please keep the two streams separate when you drop off:
* Swiffer – save all used pads.
* Razors – save all brands of blades, razor units, cartridges, and flexible and rigid plastic packaging for these shaving items (recycle any cardboard at home).

PLEASE, NO — carpets, rugs, bric-a-brac, oil rags, wet or mildewed items, pillows.

PLEASE PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING – Please stay in your vehicle the whole time and have your items ready to unload in your trunk, truck bed or hatchback – items will not be unloaded from car seats. Please wear a face covering the whole time.
